What is it?
A new kind of address system.
what3words provides an accurate and simplistic method of expressing location. This novel system, pioneered by Chris Sheldrick, splits the globe into individual squares of 3m x 3m. Each square is allocated a unique address – but instead of the traditional street, town, city format, it’s a combination of 3 words! (For example, this post was written at sober.calendars.reporting).
Better addressing enhances customer experience, delivers business efficiency, drives growth and supports the social and economic development of countries. With what3words, everyone and everywhere now has an address.
How could it enhance IC?
Large businesses, spread across multiple locations, could use what3words to communicate more geographically accurately with remote employees (for example, delivering printed comms specifically to the person’s desk rather than just the office). There’s a potential future in it for mobile businesses too.
The next time you order a cab, you may have to quote three random words!
